This document presents a method for pairwise kinship analysis using the index of chromosome sharing with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to identify relationships up to the 5th degree. It highlights the limitations of current forensic methods that only assess first-degree relationships and emphasizes the significance of SNPs for detecting various familial connections in cases of large-area disasters. The analysis involves DNA extraction, SNP typing, and calculating kinship through established thresholds derived from a study involving 249 families.
