reparation Planning ahead Effective Bulletin boards do require more than a day’s worth of thought in to them Tie your bulletin board in to your program for the month. Put up information before hand about something that you are going to cover in a program.
dvertisement For Programs A step beyond just being prepared Tying the program in to your board Have the board advertise for your program Residents will see it every day as a reminder for your program
neaky Ulterior Motive Utilize your board to gather information to be used later An example is to have an “All About Me” board where residents fill in information about themselves Later, you could send them a birthday card on their birthday (a piece of information you gained from the bulletin board)
ight How is information being presented? Just stapling pages to a board will only go so far White Space (slide #1 – notice where your eyes go) Rule of Thirds (slide #2) 3D Bulletin Boards

Halo 3 Tournament Mills Hall First Floor Lobby Thursday 7 – 9 p.m. Master Chief is calling you to battle… Will you answer? Drinks and Snacks provided Headsets will not be provided

enereal Disease Surprised? Your residents will be too Topics for bulletin boards can be a bit taboo If a topic would get your attention/halt you in your tracks, chances are the same will apply for your residents Balance between vulgar/taboo and educational Real Bulletin Board I did as an RA
xpendable Bulletin boards are not for life They are coming down in a month so don’t lose sleep if someone (for whatever reason) pulls it down Keep that in mind when getting materials You do not have to put a lot of money in to something that you are worried may be ripped down
