What is a PM² Project?
• is (above all) a project (i.e. not operations, not a work activity, not a
program, etc.).
• has a duration of more than 4-5 weeks, with more than 2-3 people involved.
• runs within an organization and can subject to internal or external audits.
• requires a clearly defined governance structure and clearly assigned roles and
responsibilities.
• requires approval of its budget and scope.
• includes more than just construction/delivery activities.
• includes transition and business implementation activities.
• requires a certain level of documentation, transparency and reporting.
• requires a certain level of control and traceability.
• has a broad base of internal (and external) stakeholders.
• may require the collaboration of several organizations, or several
organizational units.

PM² Mindsets - IAQs
Project Managers and Project Teams who practice PM² also ask the important questions:
• Do we know what we are doing?
• Do we know why we are doing it? Does anyone really care?
• Do we know who is doing what?
• Deliver at any cost or risk?
• Is this a task for the business or for the Project Core Team?
• Should I be involved?
• Have we improved?
• Is there life after project?
33. Slide 33
PM² Mindsets Project Teams who practice PM2:
1. Apply PM2 best practices to manage projects.
2. Remain mindful that methodologies are there to serve projects and not the other
way around.
3. Maintain a clear outcomes orientation, identifying and pursuing the desired
outcomes of every PM² phase, activity, role, and artefact.
4. Become committed to delivering project results with maximum value rather than
just following plans.
5. Foster a project culture of clear communication and effective collaboration.
5. Involve project stakeholders in the organizational change needed to maximize
project benefits.
6. Invest in developing those competences required to become
better project contributors.
7. Share knowledge and lessons learned, and contribute to the
improvement of project management at EC.
8. Are '''inspired''' by the PM² Guidelines on Ethics and Professional Virtues (see Guide)
