This document is a literature review compiled by Sarah Chesney on the e-portfolio system PebblePad. It lists 38 peer-reviewed articles on PebblePad available through Cite-U-Like with abstracts and notes. Key findings from the articles are that PebblePad supports peer and self-assessment as well as feminist pedagogies through blogging. The studies examined the classic version of PebblePad. Gaps in the research are how PebblePad supports presentations to employers and professional accreditation. No institutional studies or longitudinal cohort comparisons were found.

- #6: There is an assumption that employers will be keen to view an e-portfolio, but very little evidence in the literature that this is successful in practice and the impact an e-portfolio has on a potential employer. There is also a lack of literature that claims PebblePad can help students compile applications for jobs.
- #7: NSS – although we seek student feedback, so far there is no evidence of Pebblepad being used to address some of the issues raised e.g. feedback/assessment
- #8: Some minor surprises like the use of PebblePad to collect quantitative data for the accounting study. But also I wonder if the time for surveying student perceptions and reactions to the software is over. Has PebblePad moved beyond the stage where student perceptions need to be researched (of course student feedback will always need to be gathered and responded to) to a place where it is it naturally underpins learner centred approaches be they feminist pedagogy or social constructivism.
