Pentecost
- 1. Pentecost Aim: to know how the Church began
- 2. The Situation The followers of Jesus had met in a room to pray. Among these followers were the apostles and Mary. They were waiting for Jesus to keep his promise and send a power to help them.
- 3. The Event … Suddenly there was a noise from the sky that sounded like a great wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
- 4. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread and touched everybody there.
- 5. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages as the Spirit helped them speak.
- 6. The Result? The apostles are like new men. They can preach that Jesus is risen, and people of different languages can understand them. The crowd are dazzles. Some think the apostles are drunk – but it’s only 9am! - 9. Draw a flame to represent the Holy Spirit. Around the flame write words that describe the effect of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. In the darkness further from the flame write what was driven out by the light of the Holy Spirit.
