A STUDY ON GAPANALYSIS OF
EMPLOYEE(PERFORMANCE) WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE
TO LUCAS TVS LIMITED,
TIRUVANDARKOIL.
GAP ANALYSIS
 Gap Analysis is the comparison of actual performance with potential or desired
performance; that is the current state and the desired future state.
 An important aspect of Gap Analysis is identifying what needs to be done in a
Project.
 The difference between the current operation of an activity and the activity
vision, sometimes referred to as "C delta V" (current gap vision)
TYPES OF GAPS:
i. Performance gap
ii. Manpower gap
iii. Product gap
iv. Profit gap
PERFORMANCE GAP
 Performance gap analysis determines what aspects are lacking in
the performance of an employee in a particular position or of a
company in comparison with its competitors.
 Also Performance gap analysis determines what additional skills
and training may be needed to bring individual employees or an
entire company up to an acceptable standard when specific
aspects of jobs change.
COMPANY PROFILE
Company name - Lucas TVS limited
Established in the year- 1962
Founder - T.V. Sundaram Iyengar & son’s
Experience - 50 years in designing, manufacturing and supply of products to
india and abroad.
Lucas TVS products are also integrated into some of the top global brands like
Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Rolls Royce, etc.
Age of company – 59 years
NEED OF THE STUDY
The need for the study are:
 The study helps in determining what knowledge and skills are lacking in
the performance of an employee.
 The study provides information that helps to make better decision, which
further helps in improving potential.
 The study helps to increase the employee’s performance which leads the
company economically and also competitively.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The objectives of the study are given below:
 To identify the performance gap of an employee.
 To compare the state of actual performance against expected
performance.
 To identify the training needs of each employee by knowing their
skills, knowledge and interest .
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This study entitled a study on gap analysis of
employee(performance) with special reference to Lucas TVS
Limited, Tiruvandarkoil aims to analyze the current state by knowing
the gaps and the desired future state by filling gaps using bridges in
the performance of an employee. In this study various tools will be
used such as correlation, regression , chi square test.
