- #3: 2 Background – it’s a Cert III in bricklaying/blocklaying and it competency based.Starting out what makes the difference – things you should know or have prior knowledge of what industry wants and needs are. You need to know or have a good understanding of what the individuals learners needs are. You need to know what are the specific requirements of the business. Like how much onsite assessment does apply particular business requires.Developing our self paced booklet- we will discuss the process we used who we consulted with to achieve the finished product.Our model of delivery and assessment- is user friendly industry endorsed.Making the most of your onsite visits – Time management being organised.What to pack into your kit- discussion will be on what you need to take along to the onsite assessment

- #5: 4 Good industry knowledge- good industry knowledge about what the certain standards apply like for example in construction we Australian standards.An understanding of the packing rules- packing rules will stipulate how many hrs of onsite assessment is required and what type of blended delivery etc.Individual needs of the business- you need to be communicating well and openly about the specific needs of the business concerned.Things to consider are time constraints, what type of project or job are they doing so you can blend into their work environment.
- #6:  Face to face visit – employer & apprentice come in to Chisholm to enrol and sign training plan and we identify the apprentice learning requirements and have them documented in the training plan.2.    Onsite assessment- we document the onsite assessment in the onsite book and identify areas for the apprentices improvement.3.    Phone call- We phone employers and advice them on how the apprentice is going and identify areas where they might need improvement and place those notes on in our appointments on outlook or put comments on the back of their attendance record.4.    Letter- working on sending out letters to employers outlining how the apprentice competency based learning is going etc.Â
- #7: 6 We surveyed industry, employer groups and local tradesman on what they would consider would be a affective onsite assessment book and they said something pocket sized and slim and is in our language.
- #8: 7 Moodle introduction- we have on Moodle a step by step process to sign onto moodle and how to download the resources because all our books are online.
- #9: 8 And this is what we have come up with the record card was in existence before we put on hands on it modified it to suit our needs, don’t re-invent the wheel I say.
- #10: 9 You need to be organised don’t leave things to the last minute, there is nothing worse than the feeling you forgot to bring something that’s was critical to the assessment you’re about to conduct, it could be your field notes or camera, or even your personal protective equipment in our case.Critical to the success of any program or task is having a mentor to bounce ideas to and fro & constructive feedback, we all need positive reinforcement either verbalized format , documented or even both.You will need to prepare well in advance to become affective at onsite assessment.Communicate with all stakeholders regularly.
