*This year, we will learn scientific principles that
explain the physical world in which we live. In
addition, we will focus on the development of
analytical reasoning, scientific inquiry, and
problem-solving skills. Laboratory experiments,
engaging discussions, and other group activities
will all be important parts of our exploration of
physics. Math and physics are very connected, and
preparation in basic math and algebra is essential
for this course.
*
*Experimental Design & Measurement
*Motion in One Dimension
*Two-Dimensional Motion and Vectors
*Forces
*Laws of Motion
*Work and Energy
*Momentum and Collisions
*Simple Harmonic Motion and Waves
*Sound
*Optics
*
*COME ON TIME TO CLASS!
*It is the STUDENT’S
responsibility to reschedule
missed work.
*
*The grade will be roughly distributed as follows:
*Tests and Quizzes (50 – 55%),
*Homework and Lab Activities (35 – 40%),
*Participation (10%).
*Course Grade:
Juniors Seniors
1st Semester 37.5% 1st Trimester 1/3
2nd Semester 37.5% 2nd Trimester 1/3
Final Exam 25% 3rd Trimester 1/3

*If you are having
difficulties with the
material, please
schedule a time to meet
with me outside of class
for extra help.

*TIME - A willingness to spend the hours needed to
finish the job well.
*FOCUS – No TV or other distractions; concentrate only
on the work!
*STRATEGIES – If one approach isn’t working, keep
trying different ways until you find one that works.
*RESOURCEFULNESS – Knowing where to go and
whom to ask for help when you’re really stuck.
*USE of FEEDBACK – Looking carefully at responses to
your work so you know exactly what to fix.
*COMMITMENT– Being determined to finish and do the
very best work.
