Pilot q- analysis
- 1. As this was only a pilot questionnaire only 8 people from the chosen demographic (16+) . From the people we did ask we found that the majority did enjoy horror films. This tells us that if our final questionnaire results agree with those of the pilot study that a lot of the target audience chosen enjoy to watch horror films. This would hopefully mean our production would be appealing to them.
- 2. Looking at the responses I have decided that this question may have been to broad to ask, and isn’t overly necessary considering there is a question that focuses on sub-genre. So in the final questionnaire I feel this will be removed.
- 3. This question was useful but in hindsight it would have been a good idea to include the splatter and slasher genres, as it seems this is the sub-genre that will be focused on. The question is useful in telling us what sub-genre may be more appealing. The zombie sub- genre seemed rather popular and this may in some way connect to splatter or slasher as both contain an element of gore.
- 4. From the responses a victim home alone seems to be the most desirable location for the horror film. As more people would then be able to relate to the setting as they may experience it quite often which could effectively make it more frightening and realistic to them.
- 5. The kitchen knife seems most popular. It also seems more realistic as it would be unlikely that someone home alone would have a gun or an axe at there disposal. A kitchen knife also seems more threatening in some ways as it could draw out the death and the chase building anticipation.
- 6. The results were helpful as initial ideas included the use of a serial killer but masked as people will think it could be anyone around them. Serial killers also connect to realism and isn’t as far- fetched as some ideas for the villain. It would also be easier maybe to do, as other ideas if the makeup or acting ability is lacking may become laughable instead of scary.
