Polynomial functions

Polynomial functions can be represented by a formula involving terms of variables raised to nonnegative integer powers, where the highest power denotes the degree of the polynomial. Examples are provided of polynomials of varying degrees, as well as non-polynomial functions involving fractional or negative exponents. Polynomials have properties including degree, leading coefficient, standard form, and factored form that are defined in the document.
