WHAT IS A TEACHING PORTFOLIO?
• Portfolio is an approach in the implementation of
performance assessment.
• The portfolio is a collection of files or material that can
provide information for an objective assessment of
performance.
• It contains student work, documents or images, which
shows what a person can do in a work environment and
atmosphere of the natural, real.
The things that need to be considered and used as a guide
/ the use of portfolios in schools, among others, as
follows:
1. Mutual trust between teacher and student
2. Confidentiality shared between teachers and students
3. Owned jointly (joint ownership) between student and
teacher.
4. satisfaction
5. suitability
6. Assessment process and results
7. Assessment and learning
HOW PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT
TECHNIQUES?
Portfolio assessment techniques in the classroom requires the
following steps:
1. Explain to students the purpose of use portfolios,
2. Decide with student portfolio examples of what will be created.
3. Collect and store each student works in one folder or folders.
4. Give the date of manufacture on each student's development of
information materials so it can be seen the difference in quality
from time to time.
5. Determine the assessment criteria examples of student portfolios
with students and their weighting in order to achieve an
agreement.
6. Once a work is assessed and that its value is not satisfactory, the
student may be given the opportunity to fix again.
7. If necessary, schedule a meeting to discuss the portfolio.

Portfolio that is properly packaged to provide the following benefits:
1. Teachers can assess the development and progress of pupils.
2. Teachers and parents can communicate about student work
3. Pupils can become a partner in the assessment process.
4. Pupils can discover talents and abilities.
5. Assessment can increase the interaction of students and teachers to
achieve the goal.
6. Assessment can motivate students to learn, have pride (pride),
ownership (ownership), and foster self-confidence (self-
confidence).
7. Assessment aims to achieve mastery learning, not just the material
thoroughly.
8. Teachers and their supervisors can evaluate teaching programs.
9. Assessment can improve the professionalism of teachers.
