History
As a teenager, being considered artistically “gifted” meant awards and a
specialized education.
It really started with life-drawing classes at age 12. Then there were four
years at H. B. Beal, one of Canada’s top high schools for gifted students.
Following that, it was off to the Banff Centre of Fine Art with a full-tuition
scholarship.
Through the adult years there’s been times of strong creative output but
also long dry periods. Anyway, it’s been a never-ending journey. The
following images tell the story.
4
Recent Work: 2015 to current
5
In 2015, after a long period of little creative output, I started painting
again. Driving this creative desire was a commitment to what I call “the
creative mix”; simply put it is the belief that a mix of impeccable skill, a
solid knowledge foundation, and a strong sense of motivation leads to
good quality creative output.
It is also my belief that our own skill level, knowledge, and inner drive
limits or excels output. Our environment also plays a role. Since humanity
appears to be heading into a creative renaissance, it would seem that for
those willing to lift themselves off the sofa and direct their creative mix to
some sort of tangible output, a high likelihood of opportunity exists.
