Something to think about….
     Good positioning is
      beneficial to
      everyone, NOT just a
      person who uses a
      wheelchair.
     Remember to apply the
      same principles of good
      seating and positioning to
      all environments and
      tasks.
     Everyone needs to change
      position throughout the
      day, we must provide
      alternatives.

Editor's Notes

  • #6: Chair Adjustment Procedure:♦ Adjust seat height so that feet rest flat on the floor♦ Sit upright in the chair with the low back and shoulders touching the backrest♦ Thighs should be parallel to the floor and knees at approximately the same level as the hips♦ There should be 2-4” between the edge of the seat and the backs of the knees♦ Adjust the backrest to support the natural inward curve of the lower back; it may be useful to use a rolled towel, lumbar roll or cushion to support the lower backColumbia University
  • #10: View pictures of bad ergonomic workstations – use checklist to determine ergonomics of workstationComplete the Google Doc on the WIKI page.
