Why Have Energy Policy? ▪Carbon mitigation is one of the main points of energy policy. ▪The burning of coal, oil, and other fossil fuels is the leading cause of the greenhouse effect. ▪Because reliance on fossil fuels has such a devastating impact on our environment, not to mention the increasing financial burden it causes, a shift to renewable resources is a necessary action.

Bioenery Driving Economies “Biomass affords sustainable growth through decreasing financial and ecological expenditures concerning transport and contributes to national energy security by diminishing the reliance on fossil fuels” (Armeanu et al.) In their article, "Does Renewable Energy Drive Sustainable Economic Growth? Multivariate Panel Data Evidence for EU-28 Countries," Armeanu et al. concluded that for the 28 countries they studied, gross domestic product per capita actually increased when diverting to renewable resources “BioEnergy Investment”

Other Types of Bioenergy ▪Hydropower ▪Geothermal energy ▪Wind power ▪Solar energy “EITF- Lightbulb” Many countries around the world are instituting energy policy in order to mitigate climate change and pollution, seeing it as necessary for the future of our people and planet. “In order to be sustainable, a renewable resource should be boundless, but without harming the environment, whereas a sustainable energy should be inexpensive over an extended period, while satisfying the community desires and fitting with actual and future civil rules” (Keles and Bilgen).
