Public CloudCloud EcosystemVirtual Private CloudExternalInternalPrivate CloudPrivate CloudEnterprise23Friday, June 04, 2010Vodafone Essar Ltd., Pune
Public CloudPublic cloud services are characterized as being available to clients from a third party service provider via the InternetThe term “public” does not always mean free, even though it can be free or fairly inexpensive to use. Public clouds provide an elastic, cost effective means to deploy solutions Public Cloud is implemented on thousands of servers running across hundreds of data centres deployed across tens of locations around the world MNCs using public clouds: Eg: Hotmail, New York TimesFriday, June 04, 201024Vodafone Essar Ltd., Pune
Private CloudA private cloud offers many benefits such as being elastic and service based
The difference between a private cloud and a public cloud is that in a private cloud-based service, data and processes are managed within the organization without the restrictions of network bandwidth, security exposures and legal requirements that using public cloud services might entail
In addition, it offers the provider and the user greater control of the cloud infrastructure, improving security and resiliency because user access and the networks used are restricted and designatedFriday, June 04, 201025Vodafone Essar Ltd., Pune
Hybrid CloudA hybrid cloud is a combination of a public and private cloud that interoperatesIn this model users typically outsource non business- critical information and processing to the public cloud, while keeping business - critical services and data in their controlFriday, June 04, 201026Vodafone Essar Ltd., Pune
But does it work??YES!!!Various providers let you create virtual servers

Editor's Notes

  • #3: The termcloudhas been used historically as a metaphor for the Internet. This usage was originally derived from its common depiction in networkdiagrams as an outline of a cloud, used to represent the transport of dataacross carrier backbones (which owned the cloud) to an endpoint locationon the other side of the cloud. This concept dates back as early as 1961,when Professor John McCarthy suggested that computer time-sharing technologymight lead to a future where computing power and even specificapplications might be sold through a utility-type business model.1This ideabecame very popular in the late 1960s, but by the mid-1970s the idea fadedaway when it became clear that the IT-related technologies of the day wereunable to sustain such a futuristic computing model. However, since theturn of the millennium, the concept has been revitalized. It was during thistime of revitalization that the termcloudcomputingbegan to emerge in technologycircles.
  • #11: These Cloud service providers offer computational resources such as servers, network, and storage from a shared facility managed by the provider to Cloud users on an on-demand basis. IaaS providers allow users to dynamically grow and shrink their resource allocations to match their demands. However, the responsibility of utilising this elasticity effectively rests with the Cloud user.
  • #13: The consumer uses an application, but does not control the operating system, hardware or network infrastructure on which it's running. The Software as a Service Cloud service providers offer specific application services delivered over the Internet on some form of on-demand payment system.
  • #15: The consumer uses a hosting environment for their applications. The consumer controls the applications that run in the environment (and possibly has some control over the hosting environment), but does not control the operating system, hardware or network infrastructure on which they are running. The platform is an application framework.
