In Macachín, there are only two places where a different language, apart from Spanish, is used in the name of stores. The first image is about a new bar which name is following a process of globalization of the spread of English. But the use of a symbolic construction, like the use of English in this case, does not always reflect the actual spoken uses of languages by local people. This type of café is a new style in my town, and its name demonstrates that feeling of “fashion and innovative” initiative too. Bars where we can drink traditional beer, as the one in the photo, are a new type in Macachín too. The brand uses a German name which is related to beer and its nationality, apart from the fashion meaning that brings to the town too. Also, it uses a migrant language from Germany, where many of Macachin’s ancestors lived in.
