This document proposes the Population Displacement-Signal Extraction Framework (PD-SEF) which utilizes news articles to track and predict forced population displacement caused by violence and socio-political issues. The study focuses on Iraq and Syria, employing topic modeling and classification techniques to extract violence signals and build prediction models that enhance understanding of future refugee movements. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of PD-SEF in accurately forecasting displacement and validating violence as a significant predictor.
