This document discusses the use of linear distribution factors (PTDF and LODF) to predict post-outage transmission line flows in power systems, enhancing the speed and accuracy of assessments following system component failures. It highlights the need for quick estimations in power system security analysis, particularly during contingency events, and compares traditional load flow techniques with the advantages of linear factors. The methodology and results demonstrate the effectiveness of these factors in estimating outages in a six-bus network model using MATLAB simulations.
