I joined the group when I had transferred from another media class and I was informed of the idea for a theme of espionage we then developed the theme of spies and secret services and drew inspiration from both James Bond and other films with such themes. We developed the two main characters around personalities of characters we had viewed in such films, such as the leader of an organisation and an agent and decided in order to create the thriller that we wanted we would include blackmail within the plot, we then developed a narrative off these aspects. We drew up plans, storyboards and assigned roles and tried to equally divide the duties between everyone in the group.
- 3. Once we had our initial ideas we further developed our proposal and conducted some further research. We then drew up a rough script and picked our location etc. We had a week to develop these ideas and a plan. During this time we had to come up with a synopsis of our short film and pitch this to our class and receive an feedback necessary to edit and correct any flaws in our narrative.
- 4. We filmed the majority of our short was filmed during one of our half term holidays as we had more time to dedicate to the filming process. During filming we had a few problems such as we did not have the camera charger and therefore some of the filming had to be done at a faster speed and therefore we had to film on multiple days to obtain a variety of different shots. We filmed on three separate occasions and therefore had some problems with filming clashing with our sound crews schedules and in the end the director had to work both the sound and the camera for part of filming. We would have avoided this problem had one of the members in our group had been bothered to turn up for Another problem we encountered was our child actor as he was very hyper, impatient and wanted to play all the time, but in the end we got a good shot.
- 5. The editing process was not as lengthy as we had anticipated as we allocated roles for each member of the group. Half of the group took the responsibility of handling the documents and the other half of the group did the editing. Although one half of the group took responsibility for the editing the whole group took part in deciding which music to add to the footage and all of the groups opinions were considered when it came to making the directors final cut. Once we had uploaded our footage we edited the script as we made some last minute and impromptu changes.
- 6. We had some concerns in our group , these were group member participation and time management which go hand in hand in this instant. The communication and participation of certain group members was lacking and often work would not be completed or things postponed to make up for what had not been completed by certain members of our group. Another error on the day of filming was not checking that we had the charger for the film camera when we were supplied the equipment by our college and therefore we had to postpone the second day of filming until a charger was located.
