PRELIMINARY EVALUATION SHEETQuality of Summary My honest evaluation- what was done well and what was not of good standard? Try to cite specific example and moments from your videoStrategies put forward to make sure a high quality is maintained. Quality of holding a shot steadyI believe that the majority of the shots were well filmed, the close-ups were all steady and the filming of the feet was all done well. However, motion shots (e.g. walking) can be more still with less movement. We must use the tripod to film walking, as that will easily capture movement without any jolting of the hand or the camera.Quality of the framing shots The shots were all filmed well and were in flow. I believe the wide array of angles used in the interview was good and that gave the audience both characters retrospect in the scene. I believe that some shots could have been used more – long shots were not used at all and that may have been incorporated.Quality of shooting material appropriate to the task set- i.e. the content of your film pre and post editing was consistent with the exam directivesWe didn’t sway off of what we originally planned to do, and our filming didn’t make us want to. The content of the film was what we desired and we filmed the whole scene very well.I believe that we should make plans of what we need to film in order and film in the same way so we can follow that flow when editing as everything is in a set order.Quality of selecting mise-en-scène including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting;I believe the mise-en-scene was the worst part of the film. We didn’t have a location that fit into our film as we would have liked and lighting was very low. However, objects and figures were done well, with items used for evidence and stance/figure filmed well, with tension shown in habits by characters. We must all agree on a venue to film and then make sure we straight away book. We must also have a second backup venue incase of any difficulties. We must make sure the location we choose has adequate lighting, colour and is a sound setting for our genre. A prop tape recorder should’ve been used to authenticate the film.Quality of editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewerI believe our editing was the best part of our film. The various shots were all linked into each other well and the whole film flowed so the audience could follow easily.I think the beginning could improve with more clues about what is to ensue later in the film. I think location/setting could’ve improved this.Quality of using sound with images and editing appropriately for the task set;I believe sound was good, with dialogue in particularly good. The dialogue between the characters was in sync, and the accents were very believable.I think some sounds could have been linked more the film, e.g. background noise to show the chaos of urban street life (linked to the mugging).Quality of positioning and movements of actorsPositioning could be better. The location of the film meant that positioning was difficult, however some shots were filmed well (e.g. the tense habit of moving the feet when the interviewee arrived).I think the positioning of me when outside should’ve improved and maybe with a better location that could’ve been done.Quality of group planning, meeting targets, organization I think we planned well as a group, but organization was not good as shown in the lack of an adequate filming location. We met all set targets other than that and we all met outside of lesson to edit the film.We need to all make sure we stick to our task and get it done right away! If somebody sees another person not doing their task, we must let them know or try to do it ourself.Group dynamics i.e. how did your group work together I believe we all worked well together. Myself and Robbie both did well as actors and Luke and Hannah both edited the film well. Hannah and Robbie both wrote the script very well.We need to make sure we all air our views in advance, before filming. Once that has been decided, we should not sway from it and stick to our first plan, making sure the first one is of an excellent standard.Other points of evaluation ( e.g. equipment related etc) The camera we use can be of a higher quality and lighting can even be used to try and give the film more authenticity.
