Present continuous,
passive voice
The present continuous tense
describes things that are
happening now and in the future.
This tense is confusing because the verb "be" appears
twice.
But it’s not too difficult once you understand how it works:
Subject + be (Present Simple) + -ing
Singular Plural
I am being taught the
Present continuous
passive
We are being taught the Present
continuous passive
You are being taught
the Present
continuous passive
You are being taught the Present
continuous present
He is being taught
the Present
continuous present They are being taught the Present
continuous passiveShe is being taught
the Present
continuous passive
It is being taught the
Present continuous
passive
The book is being read by the young man -
passive
The young man is reading the book - active:
Pancakes are being made in the kitchen-
passive
They are making pancakes - active
Flowers are being picked in a field- passive
Some people are picking flowers - active

Penguins living in the Antarctic are being
threatened by climate change - passive
Climate change is threatening penguins -
active
