PRESENT CONTINUOUS

1. We use the Present continuous to express “Actions that are being
developed in this moment” (Accions que es desenvolupen en aquest mateix
moment)

Example: I’m reading a book now (Estic llegint un llibre ara)

2. It is also used to describe actions that are repeated frequently (Accions
que es repeteixen amb freqüència)

Example: He is always asking for money (Ell sempre està demanant diners)

3. We can use too to express an “action that will take place in near
future” (Accions que tindran lloc en un futur proper)
Example: I’m going to eat a cookie (Vaig a menjar-me una galeta – encara no ha
passat però està a punt de passar)

STRUCTURE

1. Affirmative sentences

Present of the verb TO BE (am / are / is) + the main verb ended in “-ing”

Examples: Mark is swimming (En Marc està nedant)

2. Negative sentences: We put the form “not” between the present of the
verb TO BE and the“-ing” form

TO BE present + not + main verb ended in “-ing”

Examples: Mark is son swimming (En Marc no està nedant)

3. Interrogative sentences: We change the order between the subject and
the auxiliary verb (TO BE in present) that it will be in the first place.
(Canviem l’ordre entre el subjecte i el verb auxiliary (present del verb TO BE) que
   anirà en primer lloc)

TO BE present + Subject + main verb ended in “-ing”

Examples: Is Mark swimming? (En Marc està nedant?)
