About Consumers International 230 member organisations  – including 30 government affiliates – in  115 countries Two-thirds of member organisations in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Central/Eastern Europe and in countries of the former Soviet Union; the other third in Western Europe and North America  Governed by elected Council of member CEOs In-house expertise : consumer protection law and institutions; standards; food safety; sustainable consumption; advocacy; campaigns and communications; NGO strategy…
What does CI do? INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION of the consumer movement to:   multi-lateral bodies (e.g. FAO, OECD, WHO, WIPO, WTO); international rule-making bodies (e.g. ISO, Codex); others (e.g. G8, Mercosur). BUILDING A STRONGER CONSUMER MOVEMENT:  projects or training in  40+ countries, 2006 . SECRETARIAT AND TECHNICAL ADVICE SERVICES  to regional inter-governmental networks (Latin America and ASEAN), plus national governments, plus member groupings eg TACD. Increasing focus on global  CAMPAIGNS  and  COMMUNICATIONS.
