SIZE, WEIGHT, AGE
NATURAL HABITAT
• Pandas live in China’s
rain forests.
• Giant Pandas live in
broadleaf and
coniferous forests with a
dense understory of
bamboo.
• Torrential rains and
dense mist throughout
the year characterizes
these forests, often
shrouded in heavy
clouds.
• The Panda's habitat
surrounds the great
Sichuan Plain. To the
North are the Qinling
Mountains.
• One of the reasons the
Giant Panda is becoming
endangered is because it
can only reproduce once
every year in the spring.
• Another reason is
because of loss of
habitat. The bamboo
takes a long time to grow
and the Panda’s eat it so
fast.
• They are also under
threat of illegal poachers.
The poachers kill the
panda and take its fur
because it is very soft
and very rare,
WHY IS THE PANDA ENDANGERED
• The Chinese
government has
imposed a forest
logging ban in 1998.
• The government has
also set up 33 nature
reserves where
development and plant
and animal exploitations
are forbidden.
• Promoting
conservation messages
and heightening
awareness of people
around the world are
important.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO SAVE THE PANDA
