THERE ARE PRIMARILY 2 BASIC GROUPINGS OF POWER AND POWER CAN BE
SEGREGATED AS   FORMAL AND PERSONAL
FORMAL POWER         : FORMAL POWER IS BASED ON AN INDIVIDUAL’S
POSITION IN AN ORGANIZATION.THERE ARE 3 PROMINENT TYPES

1.COERCIVE POWER : example – Adolf Hitler is known for his cunning
dictatorship. It was his coercive power traits that made him dominant over his
counterparts.

2.REWARD POWER : example - New CEO of YAHOO, Marisa Mayers.She left
Google and joined Yahoo just because of POWER of REWARD which included both
Financial and Nonfinancial emoluments

3.LEGITIMATE POWER : example - Umpire on a cricket field has a legitimate
power to make players abide by the rules of the game and carry on the
proceeding smoothly..
IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO OCCUPY A FORMAL POSITION IN AN ORGANIZATION TO
HAVE POWER.PERSONAL POWER CAN BE EXPLAINED AS INDIVIDUAL’S UNIQUE

1. EXPERT POWER: example – Jaya Ma’am is an expert faculty in HR, hence she wield
