Plants and animals are the main food sources, with plants being producers and providing foods like fruits, stems, seeds, and leaves, while animals provide foods like milk, eggs, meat, and honey. A food chain shows how each living thing gets its nutrients by consuming other organisms in its environment.

- 2. INTRODUCTION FOOD AND NUTRIENTS:- A fuel which our body needs to keep it working is called food. The chemical substances present in the food we take is called nutrients.
- 3. FUNCTIONS OF FOOD:- It helps the body to grow and replace worn out cells. It protects the body from various diseases and keeps it fit and healthy. It provides energy for various activities of the body.
- 4. SOURCES OF FOOD The main sources of the food are Plants and Animals. Green plants are known as Producers.
- 5. FOOD FROM PLANTS:- Fruit:- Banana, Apple, Mango, Oranges etc. Stems:- Potato, Sugarcane, Ginger, Turmeric etc. Seeds:- Wheat, Rice, Pulses etc. Leaves:- Spinach, Cabbage, Coriander etc.
- 6. FOOD FROM ANIMALS:- Milk Eggs Meat Honey
- 7. FOOD CHAIN A food chain is basically a chain of events which shows how each living thing gets its food in a particular environment.
