Why I like this movie
                introduction?
I liked this movie opening for how fast pace it is. Not fast pace in a action way
but straight away you meet the main character, you understand who are
his friend, then you meet his girlfriend and her friends. I find this a
effective way to get straight into the story. This also clearly shows the
equilibrium. One unique thing they use in this introduction is when they
bring in new characters they use there names in the dialogue before you
see them, also the main focus in the start scene is on the main character
and his girlfriend, with the friends in the background of the shot.

Main focus of shot Background of shot
How does the introduction
link into the rest of the
                movie?
The characters you meet in to introduction you follow all the way through the
film, without this opening the plot would be harder to understand. It also
sets the scene of the pub (The Winchester), which a main location
throughout the movie. The quick introduction to the equilibrium that is
shown help the viewer define the equilibrium with the disequilibrium.

A close up shot is used

                                           Angles are not used
                                                                     together and Shawn
                                                                     and Liz are separated
A over the shoulder that much through as they are arguing.
shot is used a lot this opening
                       within the first sequence because
                                               there is no real
                       scene, this is to
                                            reason to use them
show conversation as it gives not desired
                      between the two effect.
                         characters.
The setting is set from
the start, which is in a Expression is used on
pub. After that scene it close up shots of the
goes to different places characters so you can
                                         that we assume that
are where Shaun lives. see there reaction to
                                                                          something.
A example of this is the
                                            shopping mall.
                                                                     expressio

    props Muse on scene
The props used in the
intro are mainly to do
 with the setting. eg.
      Pub – beer,
      cigarettes.
                                                       costume
lighting Everyone in it is wearing
                       Within the pub it is
dark that is to do with casual normal clothes.
the setting as the The only acceptation is
stereotype for a pub is when people in the
dark. However when supermarket are in
its out of the pub it is
                             bright. uniform
DIEGETIC
 Music is put on quietly
in the background then
   near the end of the
scene it gets louder SOUND This is mainly
and in the new scene it dialogue between the
is loudest as there is main characters and
    no diegetic sound
                                                        some background
                                                        noise (bar tender)

               NON DIEGETIC Background noise
                                put in so it sounds
                               like the pub is busy
