Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an instructional framework that provides multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. It encourages teachers to present content in various formats, allow different modes of student response, and employ motivational techniques to engage all students. UDL has three main parts: providing multiple means of representation through diverse content delivery options, multiple means of expression so students can demonstrate understanding in their preferred way, and multiple means of engagement to sustain student interest and drive learning. When using UDL, teachers should consider goals, materials, instructional methods, and assessment tools to effectively reach every student.
