DEFINITION The neonatal intensive Care Unit (NICU) is highly specialized area in the hospital where provides more elaborate intensive care and treatment to all types of new borned who are sick on critically ill, low birth weight baby and premature babies to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality rate.
- 4. GOALS OF NICU • To reduce neo natal morbidity and mortality rate. • To provide on fulfill all basic needs of baby. • To maintain higher survival rate of newborns. • To provide high specialized comprehensive care for babies who are born at all gestational ages and low birth weights with critical illness. • To provide basic life support for maintaining cardio respiratory and renal function. • To provide all emergency care for maintaining normal body temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose Central venous pressure. • To maintain fluid & electrolyte balance by correct administering and monitoring of fluid quantity through infusion pump. • To observe the baby recovery and optimal growth.
