- 1. We use a question words to ask certain types of questions. We often refer to them as WH word because they include the letters WH( for example Why, How, Where) What is ‘WH’ Question?
- 2. When do we use these questions? Example: What is your name? These question are used to gather information This question is asked at the beginning of a conversation when you are meeting someone new. The speaker get their information by asking WH questions So how do know what WH question to use?

- 4. WHERE? Where does he work? He works for a French company. Where do you live? I live in Istanbul, Turkey. Where do you learn English? I learn English at Istanbul University Language Centre. Where does your dog sleep? He sleeps on my bed. (place)
- 5. WHEN? When do they have a dinner? They have dinner at six o’clock. When do you have English lessons? I have English lessons on Mondays. When does he get up? He gets up at 7 o’clock every morning. (time)
- 6. WHY? Why do you go to school? Because I want to learn something. Why do you eat cheese? Because I like it. Why are you so happy? Because it’s my birthday! Today! (reasons)
- 7. WHAT? What does she use to clean her clothe? She uses a washing machine. What do you do in your free time? I go out with my friends. What is your favorite color? My favorite color is purple. What time is it? It’s 2 o’clock time for lunch. (things or objects)

- 9. WHICH? Which do you prefer tea or juice? I prefer tea, thank you. Which place do you want to go? I want to go to a park. Which is your favorite blue or purple? I like purple more than blue. Which car is ours? The blue one over there! Which one is your pen? That one in your hand! (choice, things, objects)
- 10. HOW? HOW MANY? How old are you? I am 56 years old. How do you go to school? I go to school by bus. How many brothers and sisters does she have? She has two brothers. How many bags do you have I have a lot of bags.
