FIRE DRILLS
When the alarm goes off:
1) Stop what you are
doing
2) Line up along the
front of the classroom
3) Last student out
closes the door
4) WALK quickly and
quietly through the
halls
5) Line up in the back of
the parking lot next to
4th grade
6) We are to remain quiet
UNIFORMS!
Pants- blue, black, or khaki
Shirts- White or blue
Girls- pants MUST REACH ANKELS
NO FLIP FLOPS
No open toed shoes
On gym days you MUST still wear appropriate colors
Little to no words or pictures on clothing
Friday is uniforms or DRESS CLOTHES (no sweats!)
Students who DO NOT follow dress code will be sent
to the principal IMMEDIATELY!
When I want get your attention:

Students: “YES! YES”

classroom without a

backpack inYOUR cubby
3) Be sure you removeALL
homework and books
from your backpack
4) Be sure you have ALL
materials for class

1) Move your name from HOME to SCHOOL
2) Put your Reader’s Notebook into the
purple bin and Math Workbook into the
blue bin
3) Place any other Homework into the
homework bin
4)Place any mail into it’s proper mailbox
5) Sharpen Pencils
6) Start morning work
Heading On Out!
Before leaving:
1) Write in your planner!
2) Place any homework
worksheets into your
binder, in the correct
folder!
3) Clean up around your area
4) Push in your chair
5) Place binder, pencils, and
all books needed into
backpack
6) Move your name to HOME
Specials
Take ALL MATERIALS needed for specials with
you!
If you forget something and need to come
back
If door is open: knock and wait to be invited
If door is closed: return to class
NEVER ENTER CLASSROOM WITHOUT A TEACHER!
Getting Teacher’s attention!
1) For drink or restroom, hold up ONE
finger
2) For questions about current lesson hold
up TWO fingers
3) For help with class work hold up THREE
fingers
4) For tissue or sharpen a
pencil, get up and go
BUT NEVER DURING A
LESSON!
Restroom and Drinks
1) Hold up ONE finger and wait
for my OK- thumbs up or verbal
2) WALK to the restroom
3) Use the water fountain on our
floor
4) WALK back to class
5) Only ONE student at a time
may leave
6) Drinks/restroom trips will not
be allowed DURING a lesson
COUNT THE ……
READING LOGS
• You are to read 15 minutes each night
• You will need to give a summary of what you
read – one or two sentences
• Write down new or interesting vocabulary
from that night- at leas 2 words
• GET A PARENTS SIGNATURE!!!!
• Reading Logs are already dated for you!
• Turn in reading logs at the end of every month
Class Library
• You are more than welcome to borrow books
from my library
• To borrow a book you must
– Fill in the library sheet with your name, grade,
book title and author
– Books must be signed in and out!
– Teacher must initial when books are returned
– Any lost or damaged books are YOUR
responsibility
Heading your papers
• You should ALWAYS have your name on your
paper! If there is no where that says NAME,
then place your name on the top left corner
• You do NOT need to put your name on our
reader notebook and math workbook pages
UNLESS you rip off the front cover
• ALL papers are to have the standard and
Arabic date in the right corner

• NOTEBOOKS
– You name and subject should be in the front cover
– Date on the right corner
– The page number is to be placed on the left
corner
– You are to NUMBER ALL PROBLEMS regardless of
the subject
– If I can NOT READ IT, I will NOT TAKE IT!
Journals
We will use our journals almost every day for
writing! The subject and topic will vary!
Journals are NOT TO LEAVE OUR CLASSROOM
All journal entries MUST be dated with both the
standard and Arabic date
Journals WILL be graded (see collins writing)
If absent- you have one day to make up missed
journal
Journals
Journals will be done and graded in one of two
ways
1) Timed- all or nothing grade
ex.
2) Untimed- 0 points
1 point
2 points
ex.
BINDERS!!!!
You are to have your
binder IN CLASS
EVERY DAY!
*Review binder document
AGENDA!
• You will be required to keep an agenda
• Agendas are to be used to help you keep track
of your homework and assignments!
• Agendas need to be signed by a parent EVERY
NIGHT!
BRAIN BREAK!
How many words can you think of that rhyme
with:
ABSENT
If you are absent you will be given a chance to
make up work. Each day absent is a day to
make up work
IF absent on a test day (and present the day
before) you WILL take the test when you
return –except in extreme cases
IF absent the day before test, you can take the
test that day OR postpone it ONE day
ABSENT con’t
• Parents/students may email me when absent to
find out what was covered that day, as well as
homework
• You can also look on your weekly newsletter or
our class website to find out what is due that day
• A WRITTEN/ SIGNED note is required from ANY
student who misses- if not note is produced,
students will NOT be given the chance to make
up work
When finished!
If you finish your class work early
DO:
-Read a book
-work on homework
-complete journal entry
DON’T
-sleep
-put your head on your desk
- just ‘sit there’
GRADES
1) Grades will consist of
Tests and Quizzes (35%)
Class work (25%)
Homework (30%)
Class behavior and participation (10%)
*Extra credit is given monthly
Cafeteria
As third graders you will be responsible for using
the microwave on your own!
You will be responsible for cleaning up your own
mess
You are responsible for keeping the tables and
floors clean!
Absolutely no
-fighting, arguing over who is sitting with who!
And NO TRADING FOOD!!!!!
Rewards
You will receive a stamp if:
- You have done all of your homework
- You are truly trying
- Another teacher commends on how well you
have been
- For doing the extra special
Consequences
You will loose a stamp (hole punched) if
- You are fighting
- You are bullying
- You are arguing with ANY teacher
- Do not do your homework 2 days in a row
- You use inappropriate language
- Are not in uniform (with the exception of
Friday)
School Game
This year we will be competing against other
classrooms to see who can have the best
behavior.
We will have our own game board, next to the
other classes
In order to move the 3rd grade piece you will
have to ‘BEAT THE TEACHER!’
BEAT THE TEACHER
We will keep two tally charts in our room
Tally charts will be wiped clean EVERYDAY
How to earn tallies:
o Students will earn tallies when the class follows
the rules!
o Teacher earns tallies when students BREAK the
rules
If students have more tallies then the teacher,
the students will get to move their game
piece!!!!!
Dismissal
3RD GRADE WILL BE DISMISSED FROM QUR’AN
MONDAY- FRIDAY UNLESS OTHERWISE
INFORMED!
WE WILL PACK BEFORE HEADING TO QUR’AN
CLASS!
You will need to take ALL materials needed for
home
