HELLO MY NAME IS MR. WILLIAMS
I AM YOUR SECOND GRADE TEACHER
THIS IS YOUR FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL. I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYED YOUR
SUMMER VACATION AND I HOPE YOU ALL ARE READY TO GET BACK TO LEARNING.
FIRST THINGS FIRST/ ARRANGEMENTS/ CLASSROOM
SETUP
• 1. Check out the space of the room/ It should speak to my style of teaching so I
would first decide how I want the tables and chairs setup.
• I will go with clusters of desk four tables together each facing each other it would
actually be a square of four like a block.
• I would add a few things that give it that homey feeling nothing extravagant but a
few personal touches, that says this is my room.
• I would continue to look at the physical layout see where certain items would go.
CERTAIN AREAS
• I would create a word wall (phonic sounds)
• I would create a math wall (Adding & Subtracting)
• Learning centers/ I would create fun time learning centers where students can
engage in learning together different literacy activities. They would change up
each day!
• I would create an area for discussion or reading area where two or three students
may gather (quietly) and read and help one another.
• I would also create a time out space/where a student may need time to calm
down.
• Classroom setup continued with safety concerns involved:
SAFETY TIPS
• I would ensure that students desks are always in plain sight.
• Fire drills procedures are on exit doors.
• Students have space to store their belongings and not on the floor.
• Windows are unobstructed and exits are not blocked.
• Students can see all displays and blackboards and presentations.
• All school items will be put away except those items that are being used.
• All student will have storage space to put away their items that are not being
used.

rules for the year. These rules I expect you to follow
without question. My job is to give a safe environment
in order for you to learn and be successful in life. Rule

• Enter the classroom quietly and orderly every
morning.
• Students will hang all book bags and coats in
designated areas of the room.
• Students retrieve all materials that will be used for the
day, pencils, papers etc.
• Students will begin morning work it will be either on
the board or their desk.
SELF-DISCIPLINED
DISCUSSION
• If we want to ask a question we
raise our hand this is not an option
this is what you must do to be
recognized.
• I expect excellent behavior at all
times whether I am with you or not.
• This is called “Self-Discipline”
• Everyone will learn what this word
means. And what I expect from it.
• Self-Discipline means: You will
behave when I am not with you the
same way as if I were with you.
