This is a call for urgent teachers’ development in the use of ICT for teaching and learning, and digital literacy. To this end, educators’ professional development is more relevant and a priority for both SACE (professional council for educators) and for individual educators who adopted it as a requirement for using technology in the classroom and those who are planning to start

• #5: There are currently six online professional development courses available on the Microsoft Educator Network. Please note that all courses are available in English language.
• #6: After completing each of these six courses you will receive a badge and a certificate.You will use thee certificate to acquire CPTD (Continuing professional development points from the South African Council of Educators (SACE) You will gain a deeper understanding of how ICT integration can enhance teaching and learning and identify resources to immediately incorporate ICT into your classroom Learn how to evolve your lesson plans to build and assess your students' 21st century skills using these rubrics. The Digital Literacy Curriculum will help you develop the essential skills you need to begin computing with confidence. You will learn the basics about using computers, the internet, productivity programs, and security and privacy Windows 8 in the classroom seminar examines real world examples of how to use apps for knowledge creation, project-based learning and software that enables true student collaboration.. The seminar is easy and fun to watch in one setting. When you’ve finished viewing it, you will still be awarded a badge and certificate.

• #8: Click on learn more and learn more again on the overview page, click on get started , learn more the systems requirements your computer meets and the internet connections. The type of Internet connection you have will determine how you access the Digital Literacy Curriculum. Click on Access the curriculum to launch e-learning and after learning all the topics launch assessment.
• #9: Digital Literacy Standard Curriculum Version 4 teaches generic ICT skills and concepts. The curriculum features screen shots and simulations from Windows 8 and Microsoft Office 2013 to illustrate and provide hands-on examples. Computer Basics The Internet, Cloud Services, and World Wide Web Productivity Programs Computer Security and Privacy Digital Lifestyles Digital Literacy Certificate Test Each of the Modules has course topics to be completed, a score report is created after completing each Module. Click on Access the curriculum to launch e-learning and after learning all the topics launch assessment. After taking the assessment, Microsoft will create a score report and personalized learning plan for you based on your performance
• #10: Teaching with technology consists of 6 courses with different number of units. Before you start taking each course you have to take self assessment which will create a personalized learning plan you can follow to master specific competencies. To take the courses click on My Learning
• #11: How the Self Assessment Works The self-assessment will help you create a personalized learning plan you can follow to master specific competencies. The results of the 40-question assessment can help you determine which courses you want to build into your plan and which are optional. Upon completing at least one of the six courses, you will receive a Teaching with Technology badge. Retake the self-assessment at any time to check progress on your learning plan and see the competencies you are developing.
• #12: In completion of all the courses, you will earn yourself an badge plus a certificate. To generate the certificate simply click on “Generate Certificate” then save it
• #13: Windows 8 in the Classroom discusses considerations in choosing the best devices and software that empower learning. The seminar examines real world examples of how to use apps for knowledge creation, project-based learning and software that enables true student collaboration. This seminar is easy and fun to watch in one setting. When you’ve finished viewing it, you will be awarded a Windows 8 in the Classroom badge on your profile. Click on Learn More then on view courses, view each of the 7 videos. After watching all the videos you will earn a badge and generate a certificate
