Here is
my profile

I

have a personal twitter account but I decided
to set up a new one to be my professional
account
 When I first created my PLN I wasn’t too sure
who I should follow and what I should write
 I first started following organizations that I knew
such as: Scholastic, Discovery
Education, Pinterest, etc
 Then

I started went to see who those
organizations were following and started
following the ones who’s bio sparked my
interest
 Some of these were: Rainbow Caterpillar, Kids
Writing Pad, Simple K12, etc
 Add

people whom organizations were
following, and a variety of other people
including: elementary
teachers, principals, board members, tech
supporters, etc

 There

are 4 people/organizations that I
followed which I feel support my learning the
best
@scholasticCDA

 Scholastic

is a big one for me because I love

reading
 I remember Scholastic from when I was in
elementary and all the great
books, products, and games they had to offer
 Scholastic always keeps me updated with
new books and can cater great products and
book to use within a classroom
 Also I have the opportunity to interact with
Scholastic if I need any suggestions for books
for a certain subject area and age level
@Pinterest

I

love Pinterest because of the incredible
amount they have to offer; from different
subject areas to crafts to fun and games
 Pinterest on twitter provides quick little
memos to let people know what’s new that’s
posted on their site
 The people behind Pinterest are very friendly
and if you message them needing
assistance, they will help you!
 For example I messaged them about a snow
globe craft for kindergarten and received a
response the same day
@mattBgomez

 Matt

Gomez is a kindergarten teacher
 He is my favorite elementary teacher I follow
because of the numerous amounts of
interesting links he shares through twitter
 The links focus on various different topics
from in class related topics to out of school
to school boards to news articles
 If you are an elementary school teacher this
is definitely someone to follow; you will
indeed spend countless hours reading
through all the very interesting and engaging
articles
@Bullying_org

I

wanted to add this one to my favorites as
well because bullying and cyber bullying are
very serious topics within school systems
 As a teacher it’s good to have access to some
resources that help with how to deal with
bullying within your own classroom
 Also this profile provides links to articles that
relate to bullying so people are able to go
read about other situations and how they
were handled, so that it won’t repeat in your
own classroom



Throughout the term I have realized how beneficial
having a PLN really is
The most important aspects for me are that Twitter is
easily accessible and that there is an incredible
amount of knowledge, links, etc openly available to
the public
I am mainly interested in following accounts related
to the elementary division
I like to use the hashtags:
#edchat, #elemchat, #kinderchat
The biggest aspect about Twitter that bugs me is the
140 character limit because sometimes I find it
difficult to express what I want in a post or reply
I mainly use my PLN to look and browse through the
resources others share, as I continue to use my PLN I
will start to share more of my own resources
