Twitter is free social networking and micro-
blogging service that allows user to send and
read other user’s updates also known as
tweets, which are text-based post of up to
140 characters that can be sent from any
where and received from any where
In Education
• Exploring collaborating writing:
promotes writing as a fun
activity
• Rader response : students can use
tweets to send out questions to
the group while engaging in
classroom activities.
• Creating a learning experience:
twitter can be use to impact
students learning.
• It changes classroom dynamics.
• It’s a good way for making quick
announcements
• Can be distracting
• Time consuming task
• Can be addictive
• Distracts the student from
focusing in a class lecture
• Writing to only 140 character
can lead to bad grammar skills
• A Blog is a web site that often provides commentary
or news on a particular subject, such as food,
politics, or local news; some function as.
• A Blog is a web site that allows an author to publish
instantly from any Internet connection. A blog can
be interactive, allowing teachers and students to
begin conversations or add information published
there.
Why should students blog?
• Blogs are easy to create.
• Blogs are flexible, lots of uses.
• Encourages class participation and
discussion.
• Easy way to practice writing and
improve writing skills.
• Give them a feeling of ownership.
Why students may not want to blog?
• It takes time to keep a blog
updated.
• No confidentiality.
• It is difficult to keep them
blogging about class subjects.
• The worldwide audience may
scare them.
