Project Teams

Cradle-to-cradle designs are examples of “eco-effective” business practices
that optimize human health, recyclable and compostable materials, product
life, use of renewable energy, water efficiency and quality while keeping the
manufacturers socially responsible. The eco-effective, cradle-to-cradle
philosophy responds to the “eco-efficiency” approach, which only seeks to
minimize the negative environmental impacts of a business or industry.
Mission Statement
• We are Cradle to Cradle. A group of

innovative college students who guide
younger generations into a sustainable way
of thinking and behaving in hopes to
positively impact our local community.
Team Goals

1.Individually adhere to deadlines and put
forth 100% effort.

2.Provide clear and prompt communication

via text or email regarding questions within
the project.

3.Attend all meetings, follow team agenda
and participate evenly.

4.Create an openminded atmosphere. Judge

free zone for new ideas. Put effort towards
combining ideas.

Team Skills & Roles
• Sarah Cabral- Marketing/Tangible Organizer
• Sakeena Shearer- Web Designer
• Brittany Doherty- Task Director
• Merry Sheehan- Outreach Coordinator
• Joe Passanisi- Timeline Event Planner
Completed Tasks
• Established an outline/deadlines for project.
• Opened up a line of communication with
Principles & other people of importance.
Marissa’s questions
•

Criteria of poster: no smaller than 8x11. no bigger than 18x24. Any media is welcome.
Imagination is key.
Meaning & Message: What does sustainability mean to you? What do you do to go green?
How can we improve our world with sustainable thinking?

•

Will you have a winner from each grade or will you group the grades (e.g. K-2, 3-5, etc.)?
We’re only doing grade 6 for both middle schools. This is under discussion with regards to
the prizes we receive.

•

How will the judging take place?  Will you narrow down the entries to display the top 10,
20, 30 on AHA! Night?  Might be a good idea to speak with Lea Heald who organizes AHA!
Night.  You can find her phone number on their website.
Judging will be narrowed down initially by our group to the top 30. Then the project teams
class will narrow the remaining 30 down to 10 posters upon approval of Professor
Kowalski. We will use AHA night to involve the community in our voting process.Voting will
be based upon not only the appearance of the poster but the meaning and message behind
it.

•

Who can enter the contest?  New Bedford students?  Surrounding towns?  What about the
Catholic schools and charter schools?  Can they participate?
The contest is only open to 6th grade students from Roosevelt & Normandin M.S.

•

It is helpful to create a flyer promoting the contest that includes all the rules (submit by...,
date the winners will be announced, etc.).
To be determined.. Prizes and communication with principle/art director will finalize our
poster contents.
Next Steps
• Finalize plans with school principles.
• Get donations, reach out to local
businesses.

• Contact Art Director
• Make brochures/flyers to be distributed
Questions for Marissa
• Is the Art Director for NB middle schools?
• Brochures, do you have any contacts that

would donate materials for us to use? How
many do you think we should distribute?
One per classroom, per student?

• Work on project during Art Class?
