This document is the final year project report submitted by two mechanical engineering students at the University of Nairobi. It details the computer aided design of a screw jack. The report includes sections on the classification of screw threads, components of a screw jack, selection of materials, and the design procedure adopted from a machine elements textbook. It also describes how the design procedure was coded in Matlab to provide fast, efficient solutions based on input material properties and design requirements such as lift and load. The goal was to develop a screw jack design process and program that can be used by designers.
