Iain needs to develop a clear career path and influence his Digital Culture course design. One proposed idea is to redesign the entire course, but this could disrupt those invested in the current design and thwart creativity. It is better to start by understanding the original purpose of the course before proposing disruptive changes. Testing a prototype of engaging the course directors in the design process through a simple diagram and applying the SAMR model led to new positive discussions about improving the course.

- 2. PROBLEM STATEMENT Iain is an articulate, creative and reflective Digital Culture student who is connected to his classmates as well as being collaborative through social media. He needs to influence his Digital Culture course design, because Iain needs to develop a clear career path.

CHOICE 1 FOR PROTOTYPING ii. the most disruptive idea (one that would make a huge impact, regardless of how feasible or affordable it is)… …redesign entire course …this would cause much heartache for those invested in what is already a new venture. It could be intensely personal and thwart creative ideation. It is a blue sky idea for some and ultra-conservative to others.
- 4. SINEK’S ‘START WITH WHY’ When looking at a disruptive idea there is value in starting by looking at the original ‘why?’ from the foundational decision. The course director’s therefore get a voice in the process. I presented a very simple diagram which we then put through a SAMR. The diagram comes on the next slide.
- 8. test outcome Interesting that the thought of facing a problem with a plan rather than a solution was much discussed. Feedback about the prototype led to a whole new set of discussions with a much more optimistic tone.
