The unified communications (UC) market in India is growing significantly and is expected to surpass $1 billion by the end of 2010. While UC has traditionally been used by large enterprises, the market slowdown and growth of SMEs in India has brought UC into the SME space as well. However, SMEs in India have been slow to adopt UC due to budget constraints and concerns about interoperability. Additionally, UC vendors have not focused their efforts on the Indian SME market. As SMEs exploit the benefits of UC to increase efficiency and productivity, analysts believe spending on UC by Indian SMEs will continue to grow substantially in the coming years.
