This document discusses different types of puppetry traditions from various regions in Asia. It describes how Bunraku puppetry originated in Japan and involves puppet masters hidden behind a curtain controlling detailed hand puppets. Wayang kulit puppetry originated in West Java and involves a puppet master called a Dalang playing puppets from behind a stage using hand or string puppets. Another type of puppetry called Wayang beber is found in Central Java where the puppet master tells stories one sheet at a time through puppet performances.
