of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at the Gandhi Ghat, which was previously
called Gau Ghat.
Pushkar Fair is also the time when women folk go
on a shopping binge. The stalls of trinkets, silver ornaments, chains, nose rings,
necklaces, waistbands, anklets, toe rings, hairpins and the ivory bangles worn from
wrist to shoulder are attract the women in the Pushkar festival. Garments of
patchwork and tie-n-dye are also on sale. Tattoo stalls are also crowded with
women getting a permanent beauty spot on their body.

The major highlights of the fair are Matka Phod,
Moustache’s Competition, Bridal Competition, Bullock Decoration Competition,
Ravana Turban tying, Milk (stripping) Competition, Tilak competition ,Camel &
Horse dance Competition, and beauty contest amongst the camel But the most
hilarious competition of all makes large numbers of people sit on the camel’s back
and usually fall down! Of course! The camel that accommodates the maximum
number of people on its back wins the competition.

All the competition and function are very much a part of the Rajasthani Culture
and filled with fun and colour, the Pushkar Fair Rajasthan is something that you
cannot miss during your tour to desert city.
