- 1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
- 2. Before I created my music magazine I did a considerable amount of research into what makes a good front cover, contents page and double page spread. I have used a typical structure and style to create my simple but interesting magazine. I have shown in the next slides how I have used the typical conventions of a music magazine.
- 3. Cover I have stuck to the conventions of a music magazine front cover, I am using a billboard cover to compare to my magazine, they are both Main Image bright and colourful and clearly show what the target audience is. The main image is the main feature and focus point on the page, this is the same as any other music magazine, the clothes (for example the jewellery, hat and glasses) all represent the theme of my magazine. Contents page I haven't followed the typical contents page conventions as much, I have still used a number of images just like this billboard contents page, I have used numbers and text with smaller more detailed text underneath, also I have named the page BASE contents similar to the bold way that billboard have Images On my contents page I have used a number of black and white images, like most magazines that use images on there contents page I have tried to make sure that my images still match with my colour scheme and therefore have done them in black and white. ‘contents’ title images Page numbers Smaller detailed text Coloured underlining

Double page spread Black line border at top of page Black and white image Bright large letter Name at the top of page I have used the typical double page spread magazine conventions, I have used the same sort of layout, the same colours and the same effect on the images, I have written my article in question answer format whereas billboards interview is more informative text about lady gaga. I have used the idea of the bright large letter behind the text from the billboard magazine.
