- 1. Question 01 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
- 2. My music magazine uses the main conventions of a music magazine including the sell lines, mast head and cover page set up with the image linking to the theme of the magazine. The way I have chosen to represent this would be through the use of image and fonts of the text. My text fonts match up with the overall theme, however, the image challenges normal magazines because it uses animation art. Cartoon/ animation art was inspired through my research on the Gorillaz and I have chosen to let that sink in and become a part of my main convention. Where the Gorillaz use animation to sell their CD’s and their music videos on TV, I will use the same type of Idea to put something new in the foundations of the rock world.
- 3. • Media conventions I have added to this magazine include: • A masthead, This is the logo and the name of the initial magazine. • The layout and design follows a house style of animated rock, The Idea originated from the Band named ‘The Gorillaz’ • A barcode, Price, Website, Issue number and name are within the small white are of the magazine. These are simple necessary conventions of a magazine. • Sell lines, Sell lines are what make the magazine, They call out the content for the reader to be pulled in by. The colour scheme is simple and the pallet is followed through the contents as well as the double page spread. Artist names are made to stand out as do the best qualities of the magazine contents. • Image, The image is an animated drawing or a character that follows known rock stereotypes. It therefore encodes the Genre. • Overall I have managed to establish a house style. • I have added a Puff to establish something important, Acts more like a form of promotion. • Visual Motif created though different fonts and text sizes.
- 4. • Media conventions I have added to this contents page include: • Masthead in small to include this page in the magazine franchise. The masthead also acts as a Logo. • Layout and design, This was made so that all text appears to be uniform to make the page appealing to the eye. Colours follow the colour pallet intended and still follows my house style. • Contents page text stands out so that the reader knows what they are looking at before they read it. • Issue number is included. • Page is divided in a uniform structure. Images follow that feature. • There is a page number added. • A website is added to the bottom bar of the page. • Cover story is made obvious as there are various texts to make the page understandable and distinguishable between each feature. • Images have been added to show proof of my planning and photoshoot for this magazine. • Background image again follows the house animated rock style. • Page umbers for articles have been added. • There is an editors note and signature. • There is a variation in colour pallet and Alignment within the features added.
- 5. • Media conventions within my double page spread include: • Clearly laid out paragraphs that follow my house style. • Page number. • Issue number. • I have included a logo to again link with the rest of the magazine. • Pull quotes have been included within the contents of this page. • Image/ Portrait has been included. • There is a variation in typography including fonts and sizes to distinguish between the contents of the texts. • There is clear evidence of the house style as there is again another roc animated image for the page and the fonts are all the same the entire way through, Clearly following the same colour pallet. • There is a play on linked to the creation of a log entitled ‘Let there be rock’ Playing from the bible context of ‘Let there be light’ • An image to represent my genre is clear. • There is an introductory paragraph. • All texts are legible. • Headlines are clear as they are highlighted in red to differ between question and answer. • All text is aligned.
