Types of Texts

DAY 1
Introduction
to Types of
Texts
Different types of texts
serve different
purposes. Let's explore
each type!
S1: Why do we even need to learn about different
text types? Isn't all writing the same?
S2: Not really! Each text type has a different
purpose. For example, a narrative tells a story,
while an expository text explains facts.
S1: So, if I want to teach someone how to play
chess, I shouldn’t write it like a story?
S2: Exactly! You should use an expository text to
give clear instructions and information.
S1: What about if I’m writing about a personal
experience?
S2: That would be a recount! It retells past
events in the order they happened.
S1: Wow, knowing text types actually helps us
write more clearly!
S2: Yes! It also makes reading easier because we
understand what to expect from different texts.
