- 1. Q6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
- 2. Introduction • When constructing my product I used technologies such as Photoshop, Blogger, Slideshare, Microsoft and soundcloud etc. I believe that I have learnt a lot about these technologies throughout the construction of my product.
- 3. Microsoft Word • The first technology I used when creating my product was Microsoft word. I began with listing words that related to music. I then chose the three that I thought would be suitable for my product, and finally decided on one which became my final masthead. I learnt a lot through using this software including how to re-size words, change fonts and change the colours of the text as well as using effects on the text such as word art. Overall, I think my skills on Microsoft word have improved since creating my product.
- 4. Photoshop • Another technology that I used was Photoshop. Since it was my first time using Photoshop, I initially found it very difficult and confusing to use. Even the simplest things such as creating a new page were difficult and time consuming. However, since creating my product I believe my knowledge of Photoshop has improved greatly and I now feel at ease using it. For example, when creating the pages for my ancillary task, I first used the lasso tool to crop my images. I then used this skill on the images for my final product and believe they were to a good standard. Also, the layer design on Photoshop was confusing at first but now I know how to link layers to make moving images and text easier, and believe that the design of it helps to keep my product organised. Furthermore, I found that the image adjustment tool was useful for editing my images to make them stand out more and more appealing.
- 5. Eblogger and Slideshare • With Eblogger and Slideshare, working my way through them again proved to be a challenge at first as I had never used either of them before. However, after completing my market research, product research and my finished product, I then worked out how to use both websites with ease and found putting my work onto my blog a simple task.
- 6. Nikon Camera • Furthermore, when creating my product I needed to gather a set of suitable images to use on my Front cover, Contents page and Double page spread. To do this I used a professional standard Nikon camera. However, since it was the first time I had used one of these cameras, I found it initially quite difficult to grasp all of the functions and controls that could be used. I particularly remember learning to use the grid function which made applying the rule of thirds to my photographs a lot easier and I think it made them better for it. I also found the zoom function useful as I could gather a set of images that show different parts of the face or instruments etc.
