Question 6 What have you learnt about technologies from the preliminary task to the final product?
- 1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
- 2. To be honest, We learnt how to edit ourselves, as we did not understand fully how to edit because for our preliminary task, our ex-colleague Ida edited, which meant me and Ceylan couldn't understand the basic skills to edit. Now with her gone, it gave me and Ceylan a chance to fully participate in editing ourselves. We used Final Cut Pro on a mac computer in school to get the help we need to edit our final product to the best standard possible. It was challenging, as was independently trying a way to edit this piece of work well. Although it was fairly straightforward once we got the hang of it. We used different technologies to create this opening e.g. camera, tripod, phones all played a part in helping us create our film opening.
- 3. Technical Difficulties 1st major problem is that our camera died whilst we was shooting the first draft for our final product, then we watched it over whilst we was editing and said ‘WE ARE CHANING EVERYTHING!’ As a group we decided this as the opening product did not have any purpose behind it as it was very boring and not understandable for our target audience. Then we filmed a 3rd draft, and this was all going well until the camera died once again, meaning we had to film over two days to ensure we try make our film opening better than it was last time. We felt almost to give up as the batteries of the camera were appalling in the length of the battery life. After everything was filmed, we began editing on Apple mac computers called Mac computer and we used Final Cut Pro. This had been brought by the school, so it was free and therefore this allowed us to create the final product which it beholds today. We needed constant guidance on how to edit as our colleague had left, leaving me and my colleague Ceylan inexperience, doing something we both have never done before.

We are really proud of the fact that we shown the clown in situations that could scare or spook our target audience, so that our ideas stay relevant and appropriate for our opening scene created well. We were proud of these scenes as it was rated highly by all of our audience feedback, and that it actually looks scary, as we used the correct cinematography and mise-en- scene to fit everything together. We could have improved our ideas at the end, as we felt as if we rushed it, and therefore our audience feedback often referred to this part of our product. A strong ending would been good as this leaves the audience wanting more when ending on a well thought out cliff-hanger…
