Radio Trails Analysis
Trail for
(station/channel)
Trail for Italian Grand Prix
Fivelive
Target audience People who enjoy watching sports and racing. Generally middle class men,as
there are many men talking about the racing throughout the advert
Tone of voice? Tone of voice is quite casual but intense at the beginning, as it shows the
commentary from the race. The tone of voice continues being casual and
informal as there is a snippet from one of the racers himself. Later, the third
voices that show the audience what channel and what time to watch the
Grand Prix are quite formal with no recognisable accent, I think that these
voices were used to put specific focus on the important information in the
advert.
Sound effects?
(SFX)
Whilst the commentators are talking there is real life sound effects from the
Grand Prix as you can hear the sounds of the cars racing. I think that these
sounds were used to increase the intensity of the advert so it reflects the race
itself and grabs audiences attention.
Wildtrack/ambient
sound?
There is no ambient sound.
Use of music? The music in the background of the advert is very intense and fast paced
behind the sound effects and voiceover. This is used to increase audience's
excitement for the event and grab their attention.
How many tracks? 5 tracks are used as there is one for the commentator, one for the racer, one
for the voice overs, one for the sound effects and a final one for the
background music.
Sound levels? The sound levels are generally consistent throughout the advert, with the
commentator, racer and voice overs being much louder than the background
music and sound effects.
Length? 30 seconds
