APPLICATIONS
Ruggedised for Port Environments
BreadCrumbs® are built to withstand harsh coastal
environments in which port operations take place:
• First wireless mesh company to get security
certified under NSA Suite B
• Models designed for IP67 (6-dust tight, 7-
waterproof)
• Protection from shock and vibration
• High performance in severe temperatures: -22° to
176° F (-30 ° to 80° C)
• No fans or other moving parts to breakdown or
wear out
• Lightweight form factor enhances quick
deployment
• 175,000 Hours Mean Time Between Failure
(MTBF)
RAJANT KINETIC MESH® NETWORKS:
Mitigating Signal and Range Obstructions
Using our multi-transceiver, multi-frequency BreadCrumbs®, InstaMesh®
can dynamically redirect information packets around this interference
providing the fastest possible throughput.
Large metal containers and their subsequent
movement can impede signal range for many
wireless communication systems.
ADVANCING PORT OPERATIONS
What Rajant Enables
Video Surveillance:
high bandwidth to
stream video from
remote cameras to
dispatchers, first
responders, etc.
Remote Access:
enable first responders
and security officials to
retrieve critical
information while on
the move.
Improved Situational
Awareness: allow
dispatchers to
instantly view incident
details, analyze alerts,
and get responders
on-scene fast.
Enhanced Evidence
Gathering: capture and
disseminate IP-based
video evidence for
investigation and
prosecution.
Drone Communications:
Our drone BreadCrumb
module can be supported
on the mesh for surveying
and other monitoring
functions.
ADVANCING PORT OPERATIONS:
Why Rajant, Real ROI
At peak efficiency, a single crane
can move about 40 shipping
containers per hour.
Improved Productivity
Maximize efficiency through mobile access to data,
decision-making information, etc.
Strengthened Security
Reduce losses and damage with better situational awareness
and first responder collaboration.
Decreased Downtime
Access real-time maintenance information to proactively address issues,
especially for 24/7 equipment such as Quay Cranes.
Increased Revenue
Increase capacity to support new service offerings and
handle larger volumes.
A condition-based monitoring
system can save as much as 20% in
decreased spare parts.
Adoption of automation is expected to
increase productivity in ports by about
30%.
When ports on the west coast
closed, it cost the U.S. $1
billion dollars a day.
What can a Rajant Kinetic Mesh® network help your port achieve?

RAJANT KINETIC MESH® NETWORKS:
Port of Jamaica
Previously:
• 20 Belair access points on light masts connected via mesh and
connected to reach stacker and personnel using wi-fi client.
Challenge:
• Radio interference caused by radar, ships and neighbouring ports,
plus large metal container stacks limiting line of site
Solution:
• Rajant Multi-radio Mobile BreadCrumbs on 10 light poles
connecting to BC on Reach Stacker. Improved gain and coverage
with Rajant solution and reduced infrastructure cost.
Port Management Applications:
• including dispatch, operations, locations of containers and
destinations.
Port of Antwerp
Previously:
• Cisco access points on light masts connected by fibre with wi-fi
client devices on all moving equipment.
Challenge:
• Radio interference caused by radar, ships and neighbouring
ports, plus large metal container stacks limiting line of site
Solution:
• Rajant Mobile BreadCrumbs – connecting 70 straddle carriers,
5 Quay cranes and 7 light towers
Port Management Applications:
• including dispatch, operations, locations of containers and
destinations, vehicle telemetry and health data.
