Plot is a literary term used to describe the events that make up a story, or the main part of a story. these events relate to each other in a pattern or a sequence. the structure of a novel depends on the organization of events in the plot of the story. The plot is the sequence of events or what happens in a story.
- 4. Plots usually progress through stages: Exposition Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution
- 5. The Exposition: It is also known as Introduction. The exposition provides important background information and introduces the setting, characters, and conflict.
- 6. Rising Action: During the Rising action, the conflict becomes more intense and suspense builds as the main characters struggle to resolve their problem.
- 7. Climax: The Climax is the turning point in the plot when the outcome of the conflict becomes clear, usually resulting in a change in the characters or a solution to the conflict.
- 8. Falling action: o After the climax, the falling action occurs and the conflict is - or about to be - settled. o Falling action, or the winding up of the story, occurs when events and complications begin to resolve. The result of the actions of the main characters are put forward.
- 9. The resolution: The resolution is the ending. The story’s central problem is finally solved, leaving the reader with a sense of completion, although the main character may not feel the same way.
