Mobile Edge Computing
 MEC use cloud computing and mobile networking advances to reduce application latency
 SDN enable network device to be independent of physical structure
 SDN powered MEC VANET most suitable for proposed E-health IoT service
 SDN and MEC provide required computation and efficient infrastructure

What is RHAMDS?
 Real-time heart attack mobile detection service
 Utilizes IOT devices and network for vehicle collision prevention and improvement of emergency response
time
 E-health service, IOT use case of SDN powered MEC

SDN and VANET
 Programming networks, separating data and control planes
 Centralized control of networks through programmed controllers
 Translates to the limiting utilization of network switches and routers
 VANET architecture based vehicles equipped with
On-Board Units (OBUs) with localization systems such
as GPS, processing units, radio transceivers for wireless
access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) and
wide-range one for communication with base stations
through WiMax, 3G or 4G sensors

RHAMD’s SDN Mobile Edge Computing
Ad-hoc network
 SDN based VANET added for global intelligence
 Fall back mechanism and operational modes for SDN adaption in VANET with simulation
 Comparison of routing protocols with traditional mobile ad-hoc network – MANET and VANET
 It includes RSUs, micro data centers, resource manager
cloud controller, and a SDN controller
 Heuristic algorithm for cost minimization proposed
 MEC servers, and IoT devices to FSDN

RHAMDS Network Architecture
 RHAMDS can detect heart attack while driving car through various sensors
 Two models are proposed:
 Voice control
 Gesture control
 Both are implemented using smart watch
 GPS co-ordinates of smart cars are monitored
 Alarm triggered if anomalies found on comparing GPS co-ordinates with MEC server
 Verify if user is in the car and help to prevent false alarms if user location doesn’t match with car
 MEC provide low latency and geographical awareness
 Alarm will be triggered if smart watch and car co-ordinates match and MEC server detect emergency. The
car is controlled to auto park to the nearest emergency lane and nearest hospital will be informed.

RHADMS model workflow

 SDN RSUC identify all smart cars in route of emergency
and send them message to clear the lane
 Patient will receive required aid and allow network to
return to original aid
 The window will be cleared when user says voice
command in passing conversation in the car
Voice/Gesture controlled workflow

 Another variation, real time heart attack detection
 When smart watch co-ordinates do not match any of the car
 Indicate heart attack is not taking place in car
 Same way it notifies nearest hospital
 Lane will be cleared to allow ambulance to reach
 Work-flow directly applicable to gesture controlled RHAMDS model
Results

 On detection of heart-attack, voice and gesture monitoring trigger event
 Notification pops up on the smart watch
 We can deactivate RHAMDS in case of accidental triggering
 Fines administrated by the government to misuse the system
Conclusion
 Proposed real-time heart attack E-health IoT based system
 RHAMDS reduce and prevent vehicle collision through detection of heart attacks
 Presented model of service using SDN for IOT networks and 2 variations: Voice and Gesture
 Both incorporate sensors from smart watch
 First variation use service in the vehicle but second also use outside of vehicle

Future Work
 We plan to consider automatic detection of heart attacks through the
utilization of heart’s electrical activity as soon as reliable FDA-approved
electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors are incorporated in wearable devices
